Marret Metzger is a passionate artist born and raised in Northern Indiana. With a deep-rooted love for art, she studied at Ball State university and received her BFA with a focus on ceramics in 2019. She continued her education with post-baccalaureate studies at Indiana University Southeast in 2021. After honing her skills as a production potter in Indianapolis, IN, she embarked on an entrepreneurial journey to become a self-employed artist in March of 2023.

Inspired by the native Midwest flora and fauna, Marret's art embodies the beauty of her surroundings. Marret now showcases her work at fine art fairs, galleries, and through juried exhibitions.

My work draws inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement, Art Nouveau, woodcut prints, and Tiffany Glass. Raised in the rural Midwest, I’m deeply influenced by the skilled craftspeople in my community and family. My ceramics combine the utilitarian nature of folk pottery with the delicate nature of porcelain, using the reductive sgraffito technique to create texture and visual depth. I draw on my love for watercolor and stained glass to incorporate color, movement, and intricate detail, often highlighting native flora and fauna. My art seeks to bring awareness to fragile ecosystems, encouraging a deeper connection to and care for the natural world.
